BOXED SET OF 36 CHROMOLITHOGRAPHED CARDS DEPICTING NATIONAL   COSTUMES

SINGER MANUFACTURING COMPANY.  COSTUMES OF ALL NATIONS ‑ SOUVENIR WORLD'S COLUMBIAN EXPOSITION 1893. [n.p.] Singer Manufacturing Company, 1892. 36 individual color lithograph cards, 5 3/16 x 3 1/8 inches, captioned under each illustration with name of country or city. Each man or woman (or couple) is pictured next to a Singer sewing machine. Text on reverse gives a brief history of the region, the subject and the sewing machine (although models are not indicated). The box, also in color, states that the images are lithographed reproductions of photographs taken in the various locations, and colored to represent the current national costumes. Box is worn with several closed tears and top retaining flap detached, laid in. Represented are Bosnia, Tunis, Portugal, Spain, Ceylon, Roumania, Sweden, China, the Netherlands, Florence, Naples, Servia, Algeria, India, Norway, Hungary, Ancona (Italy), Japan, Italy, Burmah, and Zululand, with some nations/regions having several different cards.
